The Westfield Ma High School Varsity Basketball team had a successful year going 14-8 and finishing 7-3 in there conference. They eventually to number one Central in the playoffs, but overall had a very solid year.
“I think we had a very talented roster,” said Javier Santos, one of the star players on the basketball team. “I am also very sad that that game marked an end to an incredible run.”
Javier, a senior, ended on a solid game scoring 17 points, but he is a team player and doesn’t care about individual stats. He would have rather won. That game also marked the end for multiple seniors including Javier’s twin brother Gabe Santiago, Luis Castro, Kameron Wells, Shane Kiendzior and Brandon Hardie.
“One player that really stuck out and had a great season was Kameron Wells,” Javier said. He was the team leader in field goals made (98), three pointers made (54), and fifth in free throws made (32). He also averaged a team high 15 points per game.
“I guess hard work pays off,” Wells said, “and I wish the best of luck to everyone playing basketball for the school in the future.”
