“Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom” directed by Juan Antoio Bayona is quite the nail biter as you take an amazing adventure back to Isla Nublar to rescue the dinosaurs. Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Owen (Chris Pratt) and others are on a mission to rescue as many dinosaurs as they can from the volcano that is about to erupt and will destroy the entire island. While the world has seemingly turned their backs to the dinosaurs they step up to take on the life-threatening challenges head on. A whirlwind of emotions play on the characters; infecting the viewers. “Definitely a mix of suspense, and excitement throughout the entire movie,” says WHS former senior Ryan Therrien, a fellow viewer who enjoyed the rush of thrill that the movie portrayed. Getting caught up in all the beauty and horror is extremely hard to resist.
While this movie has its restrictions, its bloody/gory may be too much for younger viewers as this movie is PG-13 (though they would’ve been drawn to the majestic ideas that this movie has to offer). Imagining huge creatures 100 times the size of you just outside your backyard… kids can dream all about it, but understand the effects of their wish later on in life as they watch this science fiction movie. Bayona really did hit it out of the park with this twists and turns-filled movie, that’ll have you on the edge of your seat waiting for more. It is one of the many strengths that this movie contains. Another is the second half of the movie, where evil scientists have kidnapped one dinosaur per species from the island and plan to sell them to the highest bidder. It is up to Claire, Owen and new characters Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) and Franklin Webb (Justice Smith) to help rescue the dinosaurs and humanity. “Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom” also hints several times at animal cruelty. The scientists keep the dinosaurs in these small cages and electrocute them to do what they want and sometimes just for fun.
“Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom” is a perfect addition to the “Jurassic Park” series, because it’s a little bit different compared to the others, but is a great change that the series needed. For every great emotional moment it had a beautiful soundtrack to back it up and squeeze more emotion from viewers. It was a really emotional movie to watch especially if you’re against animal cruelty, which most people generally are. Keeping a box of tissues beside you is a very helpful and a necessity while watching this.
