First to Last

After a slow start to the 2019 season being season 6 and 13 in last place the 2018 defending World Series Champs Boston Red Sox are beginning to look a little bit like the 2018 team.

The Boston Red Sox traveled to the Bronx to face their rivals the New York Yankees for the first time this season with a two game series. After losing 8-0 the first game the Red Sox made some changes to their roster they called up C Sandy León from Triple A Pawtucket and traded C/UTIL Blake Swihart to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Then lost the second game 5-3.

The Red Sox went down to Tropicana Field to play the first place Tampa Bay Rays in a three game series they won first game 6-4 and won the second game 6-5 winning their first series of the season. The next day the mindset was to sweep and that game went into extra innings and the Sox won in 11 innings 4-3. Now 9 and 13 in fourth place 5 games behind Tampa Bay

Some injuries have happened throughout the clubhouse LHP Brian Johnson was places on the 10-day IL with Left elbow inflammation, 2B/UTIL Brock Holt is on the 10-day IL with a scratched cornea in his right eye, RHP Nathan Eovaldi on the 10-day IL with loose bodies in his right elbow which he needs surgery and will be out for 4-6 weeks,2B/3B Eduardo Núñez on the 10-day IL with mid-back strain and 2B Dustin Pedroia on the 10-day IL with left knee irritation. These injuries aren’t as many as the New York Yankees who have 13 guys injured right now the latest one RF Aaron Judge who has a strained left oblique.
